A former Snaith woman has been crowned as the winner of a national pageant competition.
Kelly Taylor won the title of Ms Atlantic UK 2023/24 during the glittering grand final of the Miss Atlantic UK pageant series on April 15. The 32-year-old saw off competition from hopefuls across the country to take the crown, also winning the Best in Swimwear, Best in Evening Wear, Best in Fashion Wear and Best in Interview awards. Speaking about her win, Kelly said: “To be crowned Ms Atlantic 23/24 has been a dream come true! I can’t wait to continue my work towards promoting sustainable fashion and work with some charities I love, like Leeds Women’s Aid and Smart Works Leeds.” The competition was the second time Kelly, who now lives in Leeds, has achieved national success in a pageant series, after being named as first runner-up in the UK’s National Miss competition in 2021.
Speaking about why she decided to take part in the Miss Atlantic competition, Kelly said: “I decided to compete in the Miss Atlantic system because it aligns with my ethos of women supporting women, an inclusive system that allows women of all ages to compete and also raising money for mind UK.” The grand final saw Kelly compete in four rounds including an interview, fashion wear, swim wear and evening wear. During the interview, the pageant Queen spoke to the judges about charity work and volunteering she completed in the run up to the finals, adding that she hopes her win will enable her to continue this work. She said: “This win will connect me to charities I want to work with! I can do this anyway but having a title, crown and sash gets you more exposure. I want to bring awareness to some amazing local charities. She said: “It takes so many people to win a crown but I want to thank my partner who has helped with taking me to events, and supporting me with all his heart. Also to my family who have been at every pageant before Atlantic and are always there to cheer me on.”
