Running enthusiasts descended on Garthorpe last weekend for two fundraising running events organised by the Garthorpe and District Royal British Legion.

The club organised a children’s colour run as well as a 5k fun run on Saturday, September 18, to raise money for club funds. As part of the children’s colour run, the village’s youngest residents took to Garthorpe Playing Fields to complete two laps of the field whilst weaving their way through various obstacles and being splashed with paint powder. Following the children’s event, fundraisers aged between 16-77 took part in the 5k fun run around the village, setting off from outside the village chapel and making their way through the open countryside. Organiser David Graham said: “We would like to thank all participants and volunteers who made the afternoon possible “Plans are now underway for a Garthorpe 10k/5k adult run and another Children’s Colour Run for 2022 to raise funds for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.”

Winner, Tom Saxby with runner up, Gavin Stobbs and third place runner, Ben Hampel. (23-09-98 GT)
