Goole CC 1st XI v South Holderness
Goole 1sts were back in action this Saturday at Westfield against South Holderness. Goole were looking to keep on their good winning run and on an overcast day Goole won the toss and elected to Bowl. From the outset Goole bowled brilliantly to restrict South Holderness to 144-8 in their 50 overs. Goole’s spinners were once again at the forefront of the wickets taking six out of the eight taken. The pick of the bowlers being Ben Lamb who took 4-16 in his 13-over spell, and England (1-31) and Marritt (1-36) chipping in with a wicket apiece.
The other wicket taker for the day was Sugden who bowled tightly at the beginning of the innings finishing the day with 1-32 in his nine overs and then a run out was the other wicket from Nottingham. Goole felt confident at the break that they could chase this total down. Goole came out after tea looking to keep on their good work with the bat in previous games. But it started badly as Goole lost two quick wickets with Foster and Franks falling with the score on 28-2 then came in Nottingham to join the in-form Shelton. The pair then put on a brilliant partnership of 71 to take Goole to the brink of victory but for Shelton to fall with another fantastic innings of 70. O’Donnell joined the set Nottingham at the crease to see the game home for Goole with seven wickets in hand with Nottingham finishing on 41 not out and O’Donnell 16 not out. Goole now our unbeaten in their last three games and are looking very impressive with bat and ball they return to league action this Saturday with a trip to Sutton on Hull.
