Decorative stones designed by local children have taken pride of place at Lovell Homes’ development in Howden.
The company will launch the new housing development, named Saddlers Grange, consisting of 175 three and four-bedroom show homes on November 12. Children were given the opportunity to design the stones, which have an array of designs all inspired by nature, at the town’s annual Picnic in the Park event in August.
Jade Banks, sales advisor at Saddlers Grange, said: “We were so impressed by the creativity of all the children who designed a stone for us in the summer and decided that we couldn’t pick just a few to go on display, which is why every single one that was decorated has now been set in stone in the pathways leading to our marketing suite”. Howden resident Amy Jones’ sons, Louie and Alfie, took part and decorated their own stones, opting for a naturistic design. She said: “They loved taking part in the craft activity in the summer, but to actually be able to come and see their work on display has been incredibly special for them. “It’s lovely to know that they will all be here not just for people visiting the show homes to enjoy, but for those who purchase homes in the years to come. I’d like to thank Lovell for giving us the opportunity to be part of this exciting new development in such a creative way.” Jade added: “What we want to do is create an exciting new community, and having the children’s work on display immediately creates an air of togetherness, making people immediately feel at home in their new environment.”
