An Elvis impersonator who set out to raise £10,000 for the NHS has smashed his fundraising target after hosting a second show from his lounge that was backed by Sir Cliff Richard.
Drax Sports and Social Club regular Mark Summers sang his heart out to thousands once again from his living room after his inaugural live-streamed show on April 4 raised over £5k in a matter of hours.
Mark, who grew up in Snaith, was asked to do a repeat performance by the BBC and got celebrities on-board to publicise the event, which included a video message of support from Sir Cliff who said: “The NHS is the greatest, Elvis was the greatest, they go really well together”.
The impersonator has now raised over £13,000 from his two shows for NHS Charities Together.
Mark said: “Two weeks ago, I decided to do a live Elvis show from home just on Facebook in my living room, in a few hours I ended up raising over £5K for the NHS and 194,000 views around the world! After speaking to the BBC, they asked if I could do it again and try and raise a total of £10k.
“I contacted some celebrities for support and ended up with Sir Rod Stewart, Sir Cliff Richard, Anne-Marie, Marco Pierre White, Coleen Nolan, Tom Daley, soap stars and footballers; they were sending video messages of support, the response was fantastic!
