Local MPs, David Davis and Andrew Percy were proud to support a scheme set up by the Royal British Legion for servicemen and women recently.
The Everyday Needs Grant scheme is designed to help those in need with essential kitchen appliances, clothes and heating. Grants are worth up to £2,400 over 12 months and are available to those serving in the forces, ex-serving personnel, their families, dependents and carers. Members of the Armed Forces community who receive means-tested benefits will automatically qualify for help. Those who do not currently receive benefits are also encouraged by the Legion to enquire further about the support on offer.
At the event, Mr Davis said: “The Royal British Legion has a fantastic record of supporting those who have served their country, many of whom made great sacrifices doing their jobs. “The Everyday Needs Grant scheme builds upon this history, offering further help at a time when people are facing enormous financial pressure.” To find out more about the grants available for members of the Armed Forces, please visit www.britishlegion.org.uk.
