Grants available for community groups

October 20, 2021

Community groups in villages in our part of East Yorkshire can now apply for grants from The Sixpenny Wood fund to help facilitate projects that benefit and support the local community.

Groups in Blacktoft, Eastrington, Gilberdyke, Hook, Kilpin and Laxton may be eligible for grants of up to £10,000 to help transform their communities and empower the local people.

Perhaps a community hall needs to be made accessible, new equipment bought for the local cricket club, activities and day trips organised for older residents or maybe it is just time to hold a community party - whatever project people think would benefit the local community can apply.

Harriet Johnson of Two Ridings Community Foundation said: “Community groups make such a positive difference to local people and are often doing it on a shoestring. We hope groups will apply to The Sixpenny Wood Fund to further enhance peoples’ lives.

“After Covid we know that peoples’ wellbeing and mental health have suffered and that many people have become more isolated and lonely. Projects addressing these issues would be perfect to fund.”

Applications can be completed online with the deadline for applications being November 4.

Further details about how to apply can be found on the Two Ridings Community Foundation website by visiting: https://www.tworidingscf.org.uk/fund/sixpenny-wood-wind-farm-fund/.
