Seven cheerleaders from Goole and Selby have passed their Level One Leadership Qualifications with the UK Cheerleading Association (UKCA).
The cheerleaders, all from Expressions Cheerleading Academy in Selby, and aged between 12 and 15, attended the first face-to-face course of the UKCA in Stockport on Saturday, May 7. They completed a one day training course which involved taking part in both theory and practical assessments throughout the day, before taking an exam which all the girls passed.
Moving forward, these young cheerleaders are now qualified to support their coach, Elisha Peatman, with the development of younger cheerleaders. This will provide opportunities to develop their own knowledge and skills in the world of cheerleading as they continue to complete higher qualifications. They are also hoping to attend their first UKCA competition in December. Amanda Holden, course tutor and head of judging for the UKCA said: “I was very impressed with the girls from Expressions Cheerleading Academy, who have clearly been taught to a high standard in the supportive and friendly manner than the UKCA expects of its cheerleaders.”
Head and founder of Expressions Cheerleading Academy, Elisha Peatman, added: “I am extremely proud of my girls and what they have achieved. Gaining their Level One qualification will open lots of doors for them and can be applied into every day life, not just cheerleading. “I cannot wait to see what the future holds for them and what they achieve.” (Left to right) Angel Braid, Faith Hewlett, Maja Woszczyna and Ines Luczka with Willow Abbey, Angel Crick and Emilia Luczka from Expressions Cheerleading Academy.
