The clocks have turned back, the trick or treaters have been and gone and the countdown to Christmas is officially on! So with less than eight weeks to go until the big day, we have once again teamed up with organisations in our area to launch the annual Goole Toy Appeal.
Last year’s appeal helped put a smile on the faces of more than 140 children in our area, who were able to wake up on Christmas morning to a sack of toys thanks to generous Goole residents.
The appeal is once again being led by the team at the Goole branch of HEY Credit Union in partnership with Two Rivers Community Pantry and the Goole Times.
Toy Appeal organiser, HEY Credit Union’s Goole branch manager, Jo Evans said: “The Toy Appeal helps to support families at Christmas time, making sure that every child wakes up on Christmas morning with a smile on their face.
“The appeal is supported by some wonderful businesses in our community but we welcome anyone that would like to join us for the Toy Appeal 2023.
“Whether it be acting as a drop off point or organising a collection in your workplace, your support  can really make a difference to a child this Christmas. Please ask if you would like more information about how you can help
“Our drop off points for donations of toys are available now. Without your help the Toy Appeal could not happen.”
This year there are more organisations than ever before supporting the appeal with new drop off points and businesses joining forces to ensure every child in our area has a special Christmas.
This year’s drop off points include HEY Credit Union, Two Rivers Community Pantry, Goole Times, TSB Bank, Specsavers, Sowerby Chartered Accountants and McDonalds, with both Morrisons and Tesco also opening collection points following the conclusion of the Poppy Appeal.
Local businesses Croda, Siemens Mobility and Ecommerce are also running collections amongst their staff members and Duet School of Dance will also be collecting amongst its dancers.
People are also able to donate cash which will be used to purchase additional toys and gifts.
The account details to donate are: Goole Community Toy Appeal, Acc: 67005844, Sort: 08-92-50, Reference no: 28474.
This is the third year that the Goole Times has worked in partnership with HEY Credit Union to run the appeal and we are delighted to involved once again.
Editor Jane Rogers said: “We know that everyone is struggling this year with the cost of living continuing to impact people’s budgets, but a little can go a long way and you don’t need to spend a fortune to help the appeal.
“Simple adding something small such as a colouring book, pack of crayons or a small teddy bear to your basket and donating it to the appeal will help bring some Christmas magic to a child in need this year.
“We are delighted to once again support the toy appeal and we really hope our readers will join us in spreading festive joy to local children this Christmas.”
All toys donated will be distributed to families in Goole and the surrounding areas.
Toy Appeal organisers will be working with local authorities, schools and community groups to identify children in need, and people can also nominate a family to receive gifts by contacting the Goole branch of HEY Credit Union.

Organisations from across Goole have come together to support this year’s Goole Toy Appeal. (02-11-115 GT/EC)
