East Riding of Yorkshire Council has revealed that parking charges at all council owned car parks and on-street parking spaces across the county will be increasing next month.
The council says it has not county wide increases. In Goole’s Wesley Square prices will increase from £1 for one hour and £2 for two hours to £1.10 and £2.30 respectively. In Howden, parking charges at Hailgate’s short stay car park will increase to 70p per hour and £1.60 for two hours, while in the long stay car park charges will increase to 70p for one hour, £1.60 for two hours, £2.50 for three hours, £3.30 All Day and £6.30 for the East Riding Wide Daily Ticket (ERWDT).
An East Riding of Yorkshire Council spokesperson said: “We will be raising parking charges in all council car parks and on-street spaces across the East Riding, from May 19. “This is the first time they have been increased in nine years. We have always resisted putting up parking charges when other prices have increased. “However, this is now unavoidable because of the rising costs of providing car parking services. All rises are in line with inflation and, compared to other authorities, are still relatively low. The increase was agreed in February at a meeting of the council’s cabinet.”
