Members of Airmyn Bowls Club has been celebrating in recent weeks after a number of big wins.
The club competed in two Humberside County Team finals this weekend at Riverview Bowls Club in Hessle and secured the Drayton Trophy. In the first match versus Springhead, home advantage played its part in the Markham Trophy. After sharing victories on the four rinks a heavy defeat on rink one cost them victory, losing the overall aggregate 81 shots to 57. Not to be deterred, the team rallied in the afternoon to beat Kingston by 61 shots to 56, winning two out of three rinks and the Drayton Trophy.
Club members Steve Theaker and Matthew Dodson also saw success in The EBA County Finals held on August 7 at Blossom Way Bowls Club, Immingham. The pair won against Andy and Steve Hutchinson in a tough battle 28 - 16. In the ladies final, Kerry Lattimore also won the Humberside County Ladies Four Woods final held at Beverley Town Bowls Club. In a very close encounter Kerry won against Jane Duguid of Swanland 21 - 18.
