Airmyn FC 4 FC Doncaster 0
Airmyn played hosts to FC Doncaster this weekend looking to improve on a run of slow starts to games which has proved costly of late.
Airmyn wasted no time in asserting their dominance taking it to the travelling side from the off and being rewarded early on after Aidan Butler was brought down in the box resulting in a penalty which Captain, Gav Higgins tucked into the bottom corner to make it 1-0 to Airmyn. The boys didn’t let up any pressure and before long Callum Spraggs’s pass found Jarred Gays’ driving run from midfield who brung the ball down with his chest before volleying the ball home from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. After a couple of stray Doncaster chances and a harshly disallowed Higgins goal Airmyn provided the move of the game with a beautiful combination play between Alex Keeble, Butler and Spragg down the left-hand side ended with a perfectly placed cross to Keane Ullathorne in the opposition box who put the ball away for a third Airmyn goal. The remainder of the half FC Doncaster, with nothing to lose, took the game to Airmyn the best they could but would only be denied by an incredible team performance from the boys in Red and Black.
The second half was a slow start for Airmyn and keeper Joe Swash was called into action a couple of times but it didn’t take long for Airmyn to find their rhythm and, not to be upstaged, Callum Spragg made it 4-0 with an audacious lob from 40 plus yards to really put the game to bed. The Percy Arms Man of the Match was awarded to Keane Ullathorne. Airmyn FC play again this Saturday at Kent Road Park, 1.30pm, against Kinsley FC. Man of the Match Keane Ullathorne in action.
