Medical group has Lavender windfall
More than £5,000 has been raised at this year’s Snaith Lavender Ball.

Some of Snaith’s youngest residents are helping to protect the community and make streets safer after joining Humberside Police as mini constables this week.
The 13 Year 5 pupils from Snaith Primary School were sworn in as mini police constables by local PCSO Sam Chandler and PC Davis who led the inauguration on Thursday, January 6. The children each submitted “impressive” applications to join the programme and read out an attestation to the force before being welcomed to Humberside Police. Each mini constable was presented with their uniform in front of parents and the ceremony was also relayed to their classmates via live video link. The programme, originally piloted in four schools, is now being brought to schools across the Humberside area with the aim of providing young people with opportunities to take responsibility in and for their local community.
Head teacher, Helen Calpin, said: “I am incredibly proud of the children. Their applications were exemplary and demonstrated a passion, respect and responsibility towards others in the community. They are incredibly committed and all excited to undertake the project.” The new mini officers will undertake training linked to both local and national priorities over the next seven weeks which include safer strangers, crime prevention, social responsibilities and challenging diversity as well as online safety, anti-bullying and parking. The children will use their training to cascade information and learning to the rest of the school and within the community.
