The Goole branch of Nationwide Building Society has donated hundreds of toys and other essentials to local families in need this Christmas.
Staff, customers and even kindhearted strangers who don’t use the bank, have generously donated items as part of the branch’s festive appeal, to help people who are struggling. The items have now been handed over to East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Safeguarding Team who will now pass them onto the vulnerable families and young people they work with. Nationwide staff member, Lisa Groves said: “A massive thank you to everyone who has support the appeal. People who don’t even bank with us have donated and it has been amazing. “We have received so many items from toys to food, toiletries and much more. All the staff at Nationwide are so appreciative of the support we have received. “We understand that a lot off people are struggling this year, so for people to take the time to go out
A spokesperson for the Safeguarding Team added: “We would like to thank everyone for all the donations, they have excelled our expectations and I'm not sure we can put into words what it means to the families we support and what a difference it is going to make. “To be able to relieve some of the pressure to those who are struggling the most, during especially difficult times, is going to bring so much joy! The community and Lisa and the team at Nationwide Goole have truly summed up the true meaning of Christmas. Thank you so so much. “May we take the opportunity to wish the community of Goole a Very Merry Christmas.”
