Staff and volunteers at Goole Museum are currently working on an upcoming exhibition about Goole’s Burton’s clothing factory and its workers.
To help tell this story, the museum is asking for people to loan or donate objects relating to working life at the factory, which can then be displayed as part of the exhibition. The exhibition is scheduled to start at the museum, in Carlisle Street, Goole, on 14 September.
Goole Museum curator Dr Alex Ombler said: “We’re looking for anything that relates to the history of the factory like suits that were made there, catalogues or brochures produced by the company, or perhaps tools of the trade like shears and tape measures from the cutting room. “Other things like personal photographs of workers would also be welcome, anything which captures a sense of working life at the factory.”
Anyone who has any objects that they are happy to loan for the exhibition, can bring them into the museum during regular opening hours: www.eastridingmuseums.co.uk/goole_museum or contact Dr Alex Ombler at alex.ombler@eastriding.gov.uk or on 01482392777.
