It's time to discover 'A Whole New World' with the Junior cast of Goole Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society as they take to the stage next week with their production of Aladdin.
William Knight, Director, explained how excited he was when he saw Aladdin had become available for junior societies. In November and December he ran a number of workshops for the over 8’s to keep the regular kids in touch and to give potential new members a taster of what to expect from joining the society.
January saw the launch of rehearsals and 34 very keen 8 to 16 year olds joining the society. Scripts were handed out, auditions were held, parts were given and they have been rehearsing every week since to be able to perform the academy award winning production of Aladdin at Junction.
You will recognise some of the cast from their summer school production of Matilda in 2022, then their first full junior sell-out show of Shrek last year. Seeing the more experienced cast with the new members is amazing to watch. They all work so well together, bringing so much fun to rehearsals, learning new skills and supporting each other.
The story you know and love has been given the royal treatment! Aladdin and his friends are down on their luck until he discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.
