MP visits Eastoft’s community book exchange

August 12, 2021

Goole and Brigg MP, Andrew Percy and North Lincolnshire Councillors, John Briggs and Julie Reed visited residents in Eastoft this week to view the community book exchange they helped to fund.

The trio met with the residents who helped to create the book exchange shed to thank them for their work within the local community. The idea was the brainchild of villager, Brenda Gleadle who contacted Mr Percy asking for help to replace the plastic tubs that had previously been used as a public book and games exchange in the village. The MP along with the local ward councillors managed to secure funding from SSE Thermal’s Covid Fund and Mr Percy also put in a small personal donation to make up the shortfall too. Other villagers came together to make small modifications to make the shed weather proof and painted it up for the community to enjoy. MP Andrew Percy said: “Thanks go to all those in the community who have helped with this and who have supplied books etc. “John, Julie and I joined Brenda and other local residents Stacy to take a look at the book exchange and thanks Brenda for her work on this and other projects in the village.”
